What years did some of the lesser-known brands make metal detectors?

Well you can still get new nautilus detectors at some dealers but you have to look them up on the web.
 

Compass was very popular in the 1970s and some of the best treasure hunters I've known were still using their old Compass detectors into the early 2000s. I bought a Treasure Hunter Phantom in 1981 or early 1982 I believe. It was a modified D-Tex and I probably found as much good stuff with it as I have with any detector I've ever owned. The late Richard Ray of Alvin, Texas produced and sold them. I'm attaching a photo of a Treasure Hunter Phantom, like mine which was stolen in 1992, except that mine was black where this one is blue.
