What's up with this 1990 P Jefferson?

I found this coin in a big lot of nickel rolls I bought from the bank, (nothing else special, but I kept all of the ones dated 1959 and older - oldest was dated 1940 S) and noticed that there is some strange... I don't want to call it doubling... marks on the word TRUST in IN GOD WE TRUST. The lower halves of the letters seem to have some sort of marking going through them that I can't find on any other words or letters on the coin. I can't find any info on the markings on the internet either.

Possibly a cycle or two through a washer or dryer. Definitely post mint wear.
