I do it to make sure I am not burdening the bank too much with a large dump all at once. It fills their storage space that they use until the truck comes, and it is a burden on them to change bags so often. to BRAG of 17 bag changes in one dump? I see that as great for you but terrible for them. Where will they store 17 bags? Have you seen the designated area for coin storage? Did you time it specifically for the day they are picked up so they were not held overnight? Did you care that someone had to focus on you and ignore other responsibilities for a LONG time to do that? No, I think doing that is wrong, and I personally don't do that much of a dump at one time. EVER.
Just my opinion. And I've seen others (not saying you. REALLY not saying you) that have bragged of large numbers, and then two months later they moan that their bank cut them off. Instead of saying "I overdid it and they stopped me" they moaned about how the bank is being unfair to them. You can find those posts if you look. They are real. Overdoing it will kill the opportunity to do this great hobby, if we abuse the people who are there for us.
My thoughts. :-)

my biggest penny dump was about 180 dollars worth only.
Hardly a brag, just a matter-of-fact response to OP's question.jrf30 said:. . . to BRAG of 17 bag changes in one dump?

I phoned ahead and spoke with the branch manager. I told him how much I had. I asked if I should make multiple trips, or do all at once. I asked what day and what time of day to do it. He picked the day and time and chose to have it all at once. On the scheduled day, I called ahead and asked if it was OK to do it that day. They agreed with no hint of annoyance.
I picked a branch way out of my way - not because I was worried that they would cut me off, but because it is the only one that I know of with a self service machine. All other branches that I use have the machine behind the teller counter. I did all of the lifting of my coin - I even moved the filled bags to the counter as she pulled them.
I can say with absolute certainty that this dump did not harm the hobby for me or any other CRH'er.
I have been back there once since August with a "Normal" dump. For me, a normal dump is far less than $150 in cents. They did remember me as the 17 bag customer even though they didn't do a bag change that day.

Glad you called and did it that way. And the advise still is good for others to be careful. So both work.
