I hunt mostly farm fields with easy access so I use my 2018 GMC Sierra. I did have Wet Okolie seat covers put over the light gray leather to protect them. Wet Okolies are made of the same stuff as wet suits.

A 2006 Honda "Element". bought it used. Folded one back seat up to the side, removed the other one. Very easy. great access on the sides and back, fits all of my metal detecting needs. In fact when I came across it, that's the first thing I thought of, My Metal Detecting Rig.

What's left of a 99 Dodge Dakota Sport. More rust than steel anymore, and over 330k miles. That thing owes me nothing.

Being an auto mechanic I’m familiar with the configuration of the Element and it would be a GREAT vehicle from the POV of “a lot of equipment”. You would have to have a minivan to compete with the cargo area of the Element. Very easy access for getting stuff in and out!

2018 Chevy Trax. Loads of room, foldable seating, and the trunk area is covered by a hard cardboard, and carpet cover when it opens, and closes so no one can see my machines.
