Got out to hunt a 1898 home in hopes of pulling some oldies from the turf and was not let down
Don and I hunted this property over two days and pulled out over 20 wheats, a 1905 Barber Dime, a 1907 Injun, a couple of tokens and a couple of things we just don't know about.
The cool one of the day was when I got a signal strong enough to dig, that ended up being a piece of aluminum siding, but in the same hole about 5 inches down was this nice White Arrowhead. That was the first one I have found since metal detecting.
The tokens or medals were pretty cool stuff too. The first one Don dug was the 100 year anniversary token from Studebaker. Dated 1852-1952. Then I dug the South Bend Business College token good for $5.00 off of a class. Not sure exactly when that school was around. I can't find any info on that one. So please chime in if you all have any ideas. I will post it on the What's it column along with several other things in the photo's. One of which is the thing that looks like a topper for a bottle or something. The thing with the crown on top. The other being the brass object with the lady that looks kind of ornate. That was dug at about 5 inches as were most things in this yard. Maybe for a mail box or something like that.
How old are those Arrowheads anyway
? All in all we did fairly decent here and hope to get back soon. Has anyone heard of a 1920 Wheat Cent having a mistrike on the 9. I have one, which I will try to post a better picture of that was part of the pile that we found at this yard. Just curious.
Goodluck out there everyone and be safe. JGAS
