I have a chance to buy a Quattro cheap from an older couple who used it last summer only. I was planning on investing in a new Explorer or DFX, but a "like new" Quattro for under $500 is a steal!

My instinct is telling me to buy it and try it. I can always sell it at a profit on eBay.

I am curious on your thoughts on the unit.

Thanks!

Never used one but it's supposed to be an Explorer with Less Bells & Whistles.

I own a Quattro and this is My opinion of it: It is the worst detector I have ever owned "made a huge mistake purchasing it" It is slow, recovery is horrible,I will have a signal & at times I have to wave My digger in front of the coil to help it recover.Minelab could have done some better research as far as the software in the Quattro goes. Yes,there are people that will disagree with Me.... but,to each their own... Try out each unit before making the plunge as this is a significant investment.look at the posts etc. & You will see very few Quattro users.I am not flaming Minelab as they are a great company & My next detector will be the "Explorer SE"

(My Quattro has been sent back to Minelab & it is functioning in normal perameters..in case someone askd if I did have it checked out)

Well the best detector out there to me is the ... MINELAB SOVEREIGN...I could not live with that slow recovery i like to keep moving and hunting not standing around waiting for a detector to get back in the mood so i can hunt again......

I've had several Minelabs, and loved them, now have a Quattro, and hate it with a passion, Wish I 'd bought a Sovereign ..............

I passed up on the offer. I am saving my clad and will go with either the Explorer SE or a WHites DFX

try for a used explorer xs,one just sold at treasure depot with sunray probe for $450.little slow on recovery but faster than the quattro. (i've used both)
