I was looking for some rechargeable NiMH batteries this morning and found some from Radio Shack. Lenmar 8 pack of 2700 mAh (AA) NiMH model PRO827, catalog # 55019784 for $24.99. I'm pretty sure 2700mAh is the highest rated rechargeable battery on the market. Monty

I tried batteries plus with no luck. I ended up buying them from Scully at Badger metal detectors. He is really good to deal with and is one of the field testers for Tesoro. Just in case anyone is looking for these batteries.

Has anyone tried the Energizer e2 Lithium's? I too was looking for some places that sold Oxyride's and finally found a place where I can get 8 for $15 shipped, but after searching I kept running across some articles where similar batteries were tested and the e2 Lithiums doubled the oxyride's performance (note that oxyride was the next best per the various articles). I figure if I am going to spend $15 for 8 batteries, I should probably check to see if anyone has used the e2's first. Anyone tried them and care to share their experience? Thanks!

Badger Metal Detectors is a little cheaper and I found good to deal with. I have not tried the Energizers yet.

From what I can gather, the e2 Lithium batteries aren't recommended for low-drain devices; is a detector a low-drain device? The most often mentioned application is digital cameras.

I just received a reply from Tesoro regarding their suggested battery type now since Oxyrides have gone the way of the dinosaur. They said they now use Panasonic Industrial Alkali Batteries. I will get some of these for my next set of batteries.

That sounds good, I will keep this in mind. However, Panasonic batteries are hard to find around my area for some reason. It's either Durecell or Energizer. Oh well, we will see, I have 24 Oxyrides coming in the mail and we will see what is available when I get down to the wire again. I am curious why Tesoro goes with the panasonic batteries??? Thanks for the info.

It just pains me to buy Oxyrides since they are practically collector's items anymore and there is a premium on buying them. The Industrial Akalines I mentioned are definitely cheaper as you can get a box of 24 for anywhere from $8 to 10 plus shipping. For $16 I can get 24 shipped, so thats not too bad. I usually am a cheapo when I buy batteries, but as much as my Tejon cost, I don't want to go cheap on it, haha.

Where are you ordering the industrial batteries from? I would like to look into that.

eBay has them from various sellers. The average with shipping is $16-20 depending on who you go through for a box of 24. There are various other sites on the web, but shipping tends to be $10 or more on those. eBay is the cheapest so far. I am going to look some more before I buy.

Where can we buy the Panasonic Oxyride batteries? These came with my Tejon and from reading other posts, these appear to be very good batteries for the Tejon. Can we get them at Radio Shack or where? Thanks

You can get them from Dallas or Eathan who are both dealers here on Tnet

I've been using the Panasonic Industrial batts since I bought my Vaquero. They come standard now with the new Vibra-Probe as well. I was a "disciple" of the Energizer Lithium cells (AA) for a long time - still use them in some of my high-end flashlights and such. They last a very long time but they are crazy expensive! Cheapest I've found them was $9 for a four-pack. As far as 9 volt batteries go - I was using Energizer and Duracell (whichever was on sale at the time ;D) - they don't last half as long as the Panasonic Industrial 9 volts do. I now get them regularly from a company that sells through e-bay as well as their own website. They carry every conceivable size you might need in many brands - very good prices and extremely fast shipping.

"Batteries In A Flash" is the company - http://www.batteriesinaflash.com/

Thanks for the insight DD, much appreciated. I will be looking into them as I just bought a Vaquero today and will be looking for the 9 volts as well. Thanks again :occasion14:
