There are many places to go without permits etc. The town owned beaches (Town of Babylon , Islip etc). Town and village parks and schoolyards , as long as you don't leave holes or tear up ball fields you'll usually be left alone. There are many wooded areas where you won't get bothered all over the island. Start in your town and the the surrounding towns and keep working your way out , you'll be surprised how many places there are. Keep us updated.
