Hi guys, apologies for talking about gold in UK, but, trying to find answer in Iowa!

The story I've been told multiple times: During WW2 a small group of US Army engineers, whilst busy doing other things .. built a small observer post on the very top of a hill near a town call Farmborough near Roman Bath. When digging the very top of the hill they found lots of Roman coins and a solid gold hare. Being sensible and not knowing the way the war was going they re-buried the gold in the field below the hill to come back for it later. Sadly they did not return after D-day but, wrote home to say when it was (Iowa). The story comes from a lady who's mum told the story to her, she was also waiting for a particular soldier to come back later for her and the gold.

Things I've checked

1. Farmborough has lots of Roman finds (yes)
2. Hill with army post on it (yes)
3. Any thing special about the hill? (yes) it was a barrow (hill fort) so it would have had anti Roman people in it attacking Romans (stealing gold?)

How could I find out more? Or best way to search on this site ? Ask questions in forums ?
