Which halves are worth keeping?

Hi shooter. I'm not a coin expert but I've seen a lot of info on what you're asking in the "Coin roll huntig" section on this forum. Check it out.

OH, half dollars... I thought you were talking about wives... My "second" better half is WAY better than the "first" one ever was. I'll keep the second one. ;D

I believe they said 65 to 69 halves were 40% silver.

Kennedy 1964, and all 1964 and before are 90% silver. Kennedy 1965 thru 1969 are 40 %. Everything past that in circulation is clad.

1970 halves were also made of 40% silver.

Yup, that's right; they weren't circulation, though. Only released in mint sets.

But I guess that really doesn't mean anything to the MD'r who finds one though, does it? ;D

All pre 64s including Kennedy

What he said.

The PCGS Price Guides are a good place to check for specific dates that may be worth something due to low minatges, but any circulation half that's clad is probably worth more for spending than hording.
