Which metal detector is best in black sand

Hey guys, I looking at doing more detecting on our coast both in the water and on the beach. I have an XLT that I was very happy with until I took it to the beach and hit the black sand. I'm looking at a surfmaster PI from White's. Is anyone using this machine with success at our beaches? (I know with a PI machine I'll have to dig up very little pic of metal.)
