I generally go to parks, houses, fields (some high trash, some low) and am looking for increased depth. What kind of coil would you recommend for the etrac?

1) 10x12" SEF (Butterfly) (would this be much different from the coil that comes with the e-trac?)
2) 15x12" SEF (Butterly)
3) 18x15" SEF (Butterfly) (I'm thinking may be too big for general hunting)
4) Keep the original DD Coil
5) Other - explain below

Thanks for your thoughts!

my suggestion old 1050, or keep pro original coil. all coils are very similar and the same coils like 1050 can be different from the factory, some more hot and give signal on hot rocks some are more stable, the same story with all the rest coils. pro and 1050 the same deep, did plenty of test to say this. you can ask why is 1050 better? firstly is shape, this coil you can drag on the ground without much effort because shape--very good shape and fro this reason get some more depth. pro 11 coil is light but with allot holes for catching dirt and make coil not light but heavy. another point price, for one pro you can get 3-4 1050 and chose one best. if I would see that pro is anyway better I would use it-I have two pro coil-but now I use just 1050. with bigger size coils dont have much experience but think its best for beach but not much relicks, they are more heavy and insted one swing with 1050 i have to make two, but its quicker and easy than swing one big. explorers etracks are not so stable construction for heavy coils. good luck Stasys

Keep the original and get the 5" sunray for picking in the trashier areas. The original coil does a very good job and the 5" pretty much covers any other need. :coffee2:

If you're looking at the SEF coils then you want to be covering a lot of ground fairly quickly?
The 15x12 SEF is king in the UK, 12x10 may suit yo better in the US. For the trashy areas you can't beat the 8x6 SEF. Personal choice really, though be warned...the big ones are heavy! Can't use my 15x12 for long without a bungee harness.
The SEF's can give a slight advantage in depth and they're very stable, but for the most part over there your stock "pro" coil should be fine for the job.

4) Keep the original DD Coil

Minelab has put many hours in to design the right coil for that machine. The Pro Coil is an excellent coil, offering good depth and great target separation. If anything, I feel you need to go small before you think of buying bigger. A small coil, like the Coiltek Joey, or the SunRay x-5 will do the trick.
