Hi everyone! :hello: I am new to this forum, just joined. I have an older detector that I am going to ask about in a new thread, but for now I want to get your opinions. I am looking to buy a new detector, and I really like the looks of the Fisher F2. Any users of that one on here? My price range is $225 or less. Thanks!!!8-)

ask in the fisher forum

Since your price max is $225.00, I'd get the Garrett Ace 250. Good luck man!

I agree with the 250. But then, I've never used the Fisher.

I would recommend the Ace 250 or even the Tesoro Compadre

Another recommendation for the Ace 250!

Ok..well first of all you mention the pin pointer...I love my Garrett pro hinterland seems all agree..I have also read that the cheap one are a waste..I have had the ace 250 since December ....I am still learning the machine and will be for sometime . I have used it on dry sand and parks, dirt etc...I found an antique cauldron approx 14 inches down...The depth is not always accurate but there are many reasons for that. It is lightweight, easy to handle and I think for the prices it is a great machine .

That was to say I love my Garrett pro pointer ...dang phone speller

Ok, so after doing research and such (and listening to you guys!) I am being pulled toward the Garret. Actually much more appealing to me. I guess I some how had over looked that one :/ . Thanks guys! :)

Check out Bart at Big Boys Hobbies, he s a straight shooter and will give you his opinion but not try and push one machine over an other

You might check the classifieds on here. For $225 you might be able to get a lightly used Ace 350 and maybe even an extra coil or pinpointer to go with it. Might be a better deal than new and you would have an even better machine.

I've used the ace 150 and now switched to the f2.they are both good units, however I
prefer the f2. Its lighter, and has a faster recovery time.not to mention the vdi numbers
give you even more info on what youre detecting.

As far as the garretts are concernd, they are built stronger, and have a smaller profile.
but the bell tone gets on my nerves.

all in all theyre both great machines. hope this helps.

I have an Ace 350, and it is my first detector. Watched lots of videos, instructional from Garrett, as well as hours and hours of others. When it came I read the manual twice, and went out and found coins and stuff in my yard, within an hour of getting it!! Very user friendly, if you pay attention to the videos on its operation. As far as the tone, I dont have anything to compare it to, as far as other detectors. To me, a good target sounds like, your car door is open, and the keys are in it
