I Am visiting whidbey island in wa state for a week. We metal detected at a park in oak harbor, I found a dime in the grass without the detector. Got a overload signal on my mxt in the lawn. We dug a small hole down about 6 inches and found the curved edge of a chrome bumper which was going down deeper. No way to get it out without digging a bigger hole which we did not what to do in the park lawn. From a internet pic it may be off a 38 Oldsmobile , just a guess. Maybe the entire car is attached to it ! image-3352351103.webp

I use to live in oak harbor. We owned a Kits Camera shop there.
Wasn't into MD back then but what a wonderful area to photograph.
fort casey would be off limits I suppose...

Most of the areas that may be good are off limits. Most of the beaches are not visited by a lot of people sitting around. The forts are restricted. All state parks are limited to small areas.

One of the things that I enjoy about this hobby is trying to figure out how in the hell certain items wound up where I find them. The usual answer is probably that they came in with imported fill dirt, but then you find them in areas that haven't been filled and the mystery deepens.

Wonder if there's a car attached to that bumper?

Keep digging I found a few huge things that could not be dug up or carried out!
