Hey Lynbo, go check out the Fisher website and check out their line. I can use my CZ models in the rain with no problem and no additional accessories. The USGS is the premier site for mapping info. I haven't been down there since I was a kid but I'll guess the foilage is year-round.

This might mean aerial photos are not effective in many areas. Try old state atlases. Especially good are the ones done just post-civil war, those guys could measure! They always listed the homesites, property lines, churches and schools in good detail.
 

lynbo have you looked at the MXT

I have an mxt and love it. I have detected a little down in Bacon county which is'nt to far from you. I dont know if you already have a beach detector or not so you may want to take that into consideration. I have not heard of many people detecting in your area, but I do remember some guy from Brunswick found some old very valueable coin. It seems like it was on the net somewhere. I have used my MXT on the beach and it did well. The only thing I have heard about the DFX is that it is harder to use. I have also read on different forums that some guys prefer a MXT over a DFX. I cant agree or disagree with them, but I will say that I have an MXT and have no plans of buying a detector anytime soon. Sorry for rambling on, and good luck with whatever you get. The DFX is only a little better than the XLT.. It will ID nickels better.. Thats it.
