WHITES QXT-PRO

The one thing that I would tell everyone is to read the directions that come with the machine and study the functions until you remember where and when to use them.....then just plain practice , its like on the job training!!!!!!! I have a whites XLT and the Minelab 2 their both excellent machines and I have found all kinds of great coins and relics and depths of at least 10 inches... So never get discuraged if you don't find something one day ...The next day could be the best day of your detecting life....Seeker

Excellent advice.? When I firat started at the hobby I didn't expect to find anything and was very skeptical.? When I found my first few coins and worthless "treasure" I was delighted!? I would like to think that since that time I have learned to expect real honest to goodness "treasure" and now I am disappointed when I don't find at least one really neat item per outing.? Unfortunately I don't always!.? ::)? ?Monty? ?

I like to set my detector up on a table outside then put different types of items over the coil to see the range that they turn up in in the different modes on my machine. I use things ranging from nails to coins to hot wheels. It has helped me to learn what my machine is telling me when I'm out and about. Bottom line though is when in doubt, dig it all!

thanks to all 4 advise

I've been hunting with a classic III for five years and just got my QXT Pro. Man I tell you it's great, I have found way more gold and silver than I've ever found before. Set your machine on the coin/ jewelry mode , search sen. on 16, VDO on , noise reduction off, this will get more static and false readings but you can tell them apart because they are not very repeatable and you can go even deeper. Listen for the very faint tones that repeat. You get the older stuff that way. I'm still learning also but that program seems to work very good for me. Also put Whites QXT programs in your search engine and you will get some other options. Always remember to pay very close att. to the size bars across the bottom when checking depth and pinpointing. A coin should only have 2 size bars, when this happens its a coin every time. screw caps reading is almost always a screwcap and foil is always foil. Dig every nickle/ring, most time it will be a pulltab but I've found some cool rings also. Anyway good luck and H.H.

thanks to all 4 your advise, and rkin0I THANKS much 4 settings suggestions as soon as the weather breaks i'll try them out.

Read the manual twice. Get on the net and look for QXT pro forums. Do an air test and make a detecting garden. Try it as often as you can, with detecting practice will make perfect. Learn the positives and negatives of your detector and go with the flow. Good luck

Just got my QXT pro today, hunted for 1 1/2 hours at the local park & got 4 quarters, 4 dimes, 2 nickels, 10 pennies & a house key! Started out with a Prizm3 just over a month ago & although this machine is very different from the Prizm I think I am realy gonna like it! Pinpointing was dead-on & every time it said I was on a coin, out popped a coin. Im taking tomorrow off work (Im realy sick, you know.......cough, cough) & spending as much time as I can this weekend to learn this machine. Ive read many posts where people said they didnt like the QXT & sold it 3-4 days after they bought it, I just think they didnt take the time to learn the machine. I will figure this thing out & I think im off to a good start. Will post a pic of my 3 day finds on Sunday night in the TODAYS FINDS forum. Got a real good feeling Im gonna clean up on clad & hopefuly jewelry! ;D

OK........been using my QXT a little over 3 months now & I love this machine! I realy am starting to understand it well, have found tons of clad & quite a few rings & pendants. One thing ive started doing is turning up my sensitivity as high as i can before it gets unstable & I go to the center of the park, no mans land as I like to call it. I can swing for 20-30 feet with out a signal out there, I listen for faint but repeatable signals & dig coins at 8-10 inches! Its quite a thrill for me & I know if I can find the right spot I'll be able to pop out old silver like a pro! Anyway, I realy like the QXTpro, think its a great machine, goes deep, finds it all!

they are great units, cannot understand why they are not more popular machines, expand the zone range and add a numeral id and i think they would be the best out there
