Why a rivet on this brooch/pin.

Found this pin today. I noticed that it had a rivet on the bottom, like cloth or something would be attached to it. Anyone have clue as to why it would have a rivet?

That is a hair barrette for a child probably. The two wires were longer and clipped in each side on the hooks. It had a glass stone set in the rivet type thing for decoration. Or it could have been a ribbon of some thick material.

To me it looks way to rough to be a pendant or any sort of jewelry.

I'm thinking a vintage radio dial and that the wire going through the upper clips has been added.

Note the wear around the "rivet" as if a button was there.
