I have an Equinox 800.

1. Why not always use pinpointer mode instead of detect mode?

2. Let's say that I'm starting in pinpointer mode initially, and I get a signal. Does this mean that theoretically there is a target there (assuming there is no interference of any kind that can give a false signal)?

Pinpoint is hunting in all metal so no discrimination at all, if you don't switch to disc on each target you are digging any and all iron.

I have several excals customized that I hunt in pinpoint, and have reverse mod on it so switch to disc mode with flip of switch, making it very easy to hunt in reverse disc.
