I have been hunting new ground and it seems to be virgin. I have found at least 50 buttons of which the majority are small finger nail size and 10 or so coat buttons. One large type was a really nice copper (dandy type?) with gold guilt and a crazy desiegn and several silver wash buttons. I have a found 7 thimbles at this site to. it seems to me there was a lot of activity here but what type? The coins pulled here so far include 1840 half dime, 1857 flying eagle one cent, a realle with no date, several king george 2 types, an 1860 2 cent piece in rellay nice shape and several large cents. Why all the small buttons? Any thoughts or reasoning to why?

I will post picture asap.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing, I have a few common eagle military buttons then came across the same design that was the diameter of an eraser. It seemed too delicate for a man's uniform.
