It looks to be a few inches long. Do you have a size reference?

Its a little bent though so it may be longer

It looks to be the side hinge on an antique lift top school desk. :) Breezie

Dang Breezie, you really got an eye. I bet you are right, and I'd never figured that in a million years.

Whoa Breezie that'd be cool! How old do you think it would be if it was? Thanks!

Those types of hinges were used for many years on desk tops, not just for school type desk. The desk pictured below is from the 1930s/early 40's era. :) Breezie

its either part of an emergency brake or part of a automatic transmision shift linkage

I like the school desk theory but, it could also have been a throttle control for a mower, tiller, or some type of engine. :icon_scratch:

I was thinking that it was a window regulator for the small rear windows in a 1930 auto. But it also looks like automotive brake gear. :icon_scratch: ?

I might try to see what else comes up from the area when the ground thaws better... Maybe something related to it will come up

This is not a good example pic it's not like the ones I remember, but could it pe part of a foot petal starter off of an old gasolene powered washing machine? Kinda of looks like the ones I remember.
