Talk about a book that will open your eyes read Wild Swans by Jung Chang. 
My wife had read this book...we were on a trip to Joshua Tree NP. I started reading it. could not put it down. I am really not much of a reader. 
I read Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, Patriot Games, and a couple of police novels. The Choir Boy's, The New Centurions, The Onion Field, Etc., The Godfather, The Odessa Files, The Valachi Papers, You want to read a good book read it. I kid you not!
