the black part seems to be bone. It has grains in it. Would bone or tusk be cold?

inside is a cone shape carved out and a straight hold going through..

It's the stem of a tobacco pipe. With a lot of pipes, you can remove the bowl and put in a filter where it attaches to the stem. Pretty darn sure that's what it is.

I have always been told that if it is bone you can lick it and it sort of sticks to your tounge due to the pours on the bone..It works if you try it.
