Wood back button?

A few finds yesterday - slick copper coin, a few buttons and others. The gold guilded button has a different back then others I have dug. Any ideas on age or type. Thanks

The front looks to be a typical early 1800s design, but not seen that type of back??

Don't quote me on this, but wood and bone backs appeared on rev war era officers buttons. However, this appears to be civilian in design, but I could be wrong! Very cool!

Hi; Yours is a modern button from 1880 - 1920. The wood backing is an attempt to salvage the button after the original backing was lost. It may be part of a set of buttons with the same design ok. PEACE:RONB
