Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Hi All,

Been forever since I've had anything decent to post. Thank goodness for the rest of you, or I'd think everything good had been found.

Posting several pics here, so I hope I have room for all of them.

The first pics are of Sunday afternoon's finds, about an hour and a half, at the local tot lots. This is the first time I've done well (I have an extensive collection of the metal tube that holds erasers onto pencils, though!). The bracelet is marked 925 and when I showed it to my wife she commented that no way would anyone bother with such tiny cubic zirconia...she thinks the stones are real. Not sure myself, what do you all think? I have a hard time believing that anyone would let their kid wear a real bracelet to school. On the other hand, maybe it was the drunk lady who drank all the King Cobra and Corona's.

The laser pointer thing will be fun at music festivals.

The other necklace has a really cool hand-worked silver and turquoise hatchet design. Chain is surprisingly heavy, and stamped Italy 925. Strangely enough, the hatchet itself isn't marked. I thought ALL silver had to be stamped?

The coins vary. The beautiful 1906IH is from my wife...she got it in change at a Burger King. She has no idea what all the hoopla is about...she found this one really easy, and didn't have to get her hands dirty. Remainder of coins are from my grandma. I was detecting her yard and after laughing at me for getting excited about finding a silver spoon in her garden, told me to come in the house and gave me these! No, there isn't a D on the Merc.

Hope you all enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed finding them.

MP,
You've been holding out on us. ;D Man, great finds. That IH is the bomb, and so are Grannies coins.
Try that laser pointer inside the movie theater. People love that! ;D
Great post,
MM

Re: Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Thanks all.

MM, I like your IH better. Its got that nice green patina, you dug it yourself, and it looks SWEET next to that plastic indian.

49er, you from CA by chance?

Re: Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Thanks for the comments.

I think that there's a time when you know you've "arrived" in any given pursuit. Mine, in the jewelry hunting field, came when the jewelry master complimented my finds. Boobydoo, thanks for the kind words. I've hit these same lots over and over with nothing but a bellybutton ring to show for it. I suppose I could have been an hour behind the guy who got everything...

Ahh, there's my favorite lady on that big ol' dollar. Nice finds. I'm hitting the chips tomorrow, I'm in dire need of a coin fix.

Re: Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Hey Playah, Great finds!Thats some sweeet jewelry especially the tomahawk.Grandma sure is good to you too!!Both my grannies have past so can I adopt yours?I don't eat much, some warm mollasses cookies or potato donuts with a cup of coffee will do. Jeez, add all those things to the treasure you found on your desk the other day and I'd say your having a great spring!!Well, keep up the good "work" and I'll look forward to seeing some more posts from you soon. Re: Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Hey, Bootstrap, you can share my grandma, but it will be more like homemade ravioli and biscotti (we're hardcore Italian!). I was pretty excited with the jewelry finds. First time I've gotten lucky in the chips.

Now....you didn't even mention my most generous offer to rid you of the curse of the Pentagram rings.......

P.S. I almost fell off my chair laughing when I read "Playah". You typed your accent perfectly, bro!

Hey MP great to see you posting.....looks like you have been doing alright keep it up 8)

Re: Wood Chip Jewelry and Grandma's Coins

Thanks, Tyre. They're nothing compared to what you posted the other day. Keep it coming, us US folks have nothing close to that old to hunt for.

Nick, the coins made my day. Old silver kicks butt.
