wooden shroom?

Anyone ever see anything like this before? Bought at a TS years ago. Its wood, not carved, looks like a mushroom inside. It was part of something, there is a drilled hole on the stem. Total length is 12inches.
Second one is a staub (sp?) of some sort. Anyone know what its purpose was? Thank you oh mighty ones,,I appreciate any help.

Updated photo and info. Not carved,,from what I understand it is basically the scar left when a parasitic plant dies and falls off the tree. Prettiest tree branch I ever did see.

Looks like Manzanita root but I think it does have some carving.The other thing I have seen different places use to put receipts on.

Looks like Manzanita root but I think it does have some carving.The other thing I have seen different places use to put receipts on.Whoever did the carving was very good.Manzanita is a very hard carve probably went through a few bit on the Dremel.
