The Driver and Mechanic Badge is a military special skill badge of the United States Army which was first created in July 1942. The badge is awarded to drivers, mechanics, and special equipment operators to denote the attainment of a high degree of skill in the operation and maintenance of motor vehicles.
  • DRIVER - W (for wheeled vehicles)
  • Don...........
  • PS: The Rifle Bar is presented upon completion of the weapons qualification course along with one of the three Army Weapons Qualifications Badges. Weapons Qualification Badges are issued in three levels (in ascending order): Marksman, Sharpshooter, and Expert.

All sterling except rifle bar... so yes silver and worth a bit more than melt ,, take a gander at easy bay

Thanks I will check that out. Cool find I reckon

I doubt if it's WWII. Since the rifle bar isn't sterling my guess would be late 60's or early 70's. I wore sterling and non-sterling badges with pin and clutch backs when I was in. I enlisted in 1977. :cat:

Sterling mark means silver, very sweet! Go get some more, there is more there I can feel it!

I would say those were popular during world war two I remember seeing those being worn by my uncles.
