Post 1902 U.S. great seal. Might be a lapel pin. what does the back look like?

Not from World War One. Your US Army "Great Seal" button has a raised border, which is a type in service from 1910 through the present. However, World War One era Great Seal buttons were manufactured with a "black finish" on them, to make them less visible to the enemy than shiny brass ones. Your button shows not even a slight trace of "black finish" on it, so it is most probably from 1923 or later. (Manufacture of the "black finish" version ended in 1923.)

Found this in a soy bean field with my AT Pro. Thought I found a Civil War button but now I'm not so sure Thanks MM314
