Found these a couple days ago in an old garbage dump in a mining camp, apparently from the 1940s. Thought I would share them with you all here.

First piece is a rusty tin Cracker Jack prize. I guess back in World War II, Cracker Jack started putting these little tin US Army buttons in their boxes. Theres a few different ones I guess. This one is for the Signal Corps. Has anyone else found any of these before?

Second piece is a rusty steel penny, a 1943 D. Always cool to find a wheat penny on the ground.

Thanks for looking.

A 1943 zinc coated steel penny would have rusted away in any climate other than Arizona.
Congrats on some cool finds.

Thanks wind

Thanks, I was pretty excited to find it. And Im not disappointed it turned out to be a Cracker Jack toy and not actually from the Army. It still has some interesting history on it and I always enjoy finding old kids toys and stuff like that.

Awesome finds! Congrats!

Love that Cracker Jack toy! I found a little metal Cracker Jack toy train car a while back. Good luck.

Great finds. It's a shame modern Cracker Jack prizes are not as cool.

Those are some fun finds! I dug a silvered tin one years ago. As I recall, there were 8 different ones. I love the patina on yours!

Very nice finds. Cracker Jack did put some nice prizes in their boxes back in the early years. But then again, soda pop came in glass bottles also !

Hello OP. Great finds...it's always good to see CJ items. Still looking for my first steel penny...I've dug nearly (1000) wheats but never a '43...our climate is the opposite of yours and they just rust away down here.

Good Luck out there. C9

I wouldnt mind seeing it. I found a little lead? train car near a little lead cracker jack carriage and horse, and was wondering if the train car also came from Cracker Jack.

Really awesome find. Relic hunting is such a different experience than coin shooting. I’ve been REALLY getting in to it lately. Great tin button you found there!
