Have spent the last few evenings in between thunder storms at a house up the street a bit. Today I found a beautiful set of Sterling Silver World War II Air Corps Service Pilot wings. I looked it up to be able to identify it, I just don't know what a service pilot was. Any ideas appreciated. Also found a really nice horse bridle rosette with a thistle on it, a unique ladies belt buckle, a childs ring, 1962 Roosie, play money, musket ball, old bullet, part of an old broach, and a couple of old toys. Overall a really nice place to detect. Thanks for looking. Happy forth of July....Lance

Those wings are cool, you should use them to fly you somewhere to detect! Bro;

Way to wing it, Lance! Service Pilots were those with prewar flight experience (commercial pilots, instructors, etc.) but no prior air combat. Initially, the minimum requirement was 500 hours; later it was cut to 300.

Very cool. The wings are beautiful.

Also, if the tractor is John Deere, that is a collectible item.

Thanks PBK and Trk5Capt, Appreciate the information, and yes Digginman it is a Lesney John Deere, but missing some parts and tires. Thanks...Lance

Nice finds Lance.

I like the wings.

You wanna know something else.

My brother Lance also found a nice set of wings like that.

I took us to a old grove and it was right on the surface.

But this one had a propeller in the middle instead of a s.

Love those wings Lance. ;D ;D My son found a smaller pair but they were brass.

That rosette - what does it look like on the back? We might have found something like that.... Did they put these on for decoration?

Thanks Mirage, They are mostly just rust on the back. Had an iron back. They were used on the horse bridle as a decorative piece. I do believe as Fleamistriss said, that it is scottish in nature. Thanks...Lance
