what are the markings on? Looks like a silver cup or stein.

Looks like a small castle in the markings. I wonder if it could be English or British?

Upier those are the makers mark and the kings crown which if i remember correctly means they are the silver smiths to the king. You should be able to go on line and type in silver markings and find it.That is a gorgeous piece . I would not clean it any more. The scratches on the inside are not good and try to really be carefull . that cup could be worth a fortune. Congratulations and be carefull with it.

comcast is having issues in my area again, so i am having problems doing Any research

but on the sight you listed gave the date in the 1800's .. i do not think the cup could be that old.

but a bit more about it .. the cup appears to be cast. as grind marks are visable on the sides where it appears a seam was smoothed out upon manufacturing. and the lettering on the bottom appears to me to read C&Co then the castle stamp then EP
but i may be way off base with that as my old English is not up to par. may even be D&Do ?
the cup's weight " am guessing 5 maybe 6 oz in weight so at least $20 in silver value.

with my luck they will probably turn out to be some sacrificial blood drinking cup hehe. :-

Look's like some type of "Chalice"(Sp) Kind of similiar to the one's i have seen used for communion.
I'd get a antique price guide like Covel's or Kobel's? To early for me still on my first cup of coffee......
I'm sure there are some guides at the library. Seem's like i saw something like it on Antique's Roadshow that was valued around 1,500.00 to 2,000.00.... with a story about how in the early day's during the Civil war, the churche's used to bury or hide the good stuff for fear of it being stolen. You might do a bit of research on the area see if you can find out about any churche's that used to be close, I'd re-check that spot real well, might be more? Great Find........Hope you find more?

Just to add my 2 bits - I'm sorry to contradict Jim but it is the mark is for Corbell & Company - the company was established in London in 1946 and then moved to Los Angeles in 1951. They still have a web site and sell their silver plated goblets for about $170

You particular goblet is called a Tea Goblet and you find a photo of a identical one on Replacements.com
