Just an older half that is beat up and seen much better days. Could very well be a digger that was cleaned to recirculate.
 

Looks like? It IS corrosion.
 

Twitch is correct. It likely was in a fire. The bubble by the date is caused when the copper layer heats up and melts at a lower temperature than the nickel clad outer layering.
 

Wouldn't that be bizarre if the damaged bit was at the back of the head...
