Writing a permission request and do you share with the owner

Hey all,

I'm not new here but I'm still a relative newbie when it comes to MDing. I have a few private properties that I'd like to try and get permission to hunt. They're not the kind of properties you can just walk by and hope someone is outside to strike up a conversation. I was considering sending a letter by mail asking for permission to hunt. Has anyone ever tried that? Was it successful if so? Also, when you hunt private property, is there a general rule for the items you find? As in leaving with the owner. splitting it, etc?

Myself I just go up ring the bell and ask . Be yourself. I have made a display for 1 person but otherwise I show them what is found and I keep it. I do a lot private properties by just asking.
