......Generally,a button with a "V",in a sheild on an eagles chest,stands for Voltiguers....kind of the first Pre CW "Special Forces",if you will....I know some of the old Civil war buttons and stuff would have a V for volunteer, but the thing looks similar to firemans badge. It's old for sure and I have got CW bullets all around where I found this. The center part with the V is about the size of a quarter.
