Got home from vacation last night to find that it had finally rained. Hit a permission that I had been waiting on some rain for. High toned this time through, as there's a lot of ground to cover and I may have a very narrow window here. House is being fixed up to sell. Pulled the '58 Rosie early and then a couple of wheats. Found the 1941 Australian penny and the 1944 Phillipines 1 Centavo within a few inches of each other. Thinking some vet lost his souvenirs. Found a couple more wheats, a Merc and a pocket knife. Nice little hunt.

Nice site there congrats on the silver saves ! :occasion14:

Nice digs. :occasion14: I kind of think the vet gave the coins to a younger relative when he came home. You know how kids can lose things.

Nice finds. My grandfather was a com guy on a submarine during WW2. He brought back some of those Australian pennies, which I later inherited. I remember him showing me them when I was young, and he said he got them when he was stationed in Australia for a short time. He told me he liked them because they reminded him of the US Large cents. HH.

What a great small window of treasures. Congrats!
