WWII POW camps in the U.P.

Very interesting, thanks trusty. Never knew we had POW camps in the U.P.

We camped at Neys Provincial Park on the north shore of Lake Superior a few years back and they had a WW II German POW camp there as well. You could still see foundations from some of the buildings.

A park ranger there told us of one escape attempt by a prisoner on ice skates across Lake Superior. She said he turned back when he hit open water. :)

Noticed The camp for conscientious objectors was at Germfask. Was a CCC camp there too. Now its a private campground.
