Very interesting, thanks trusty. Never knew we had POW camps in the U.P.

We camped at Neys Provincial Park on the north shore of Lake Superior a few years back and they had a WW II German POW camp there as well. You could still see foundations from some of the buildings.

A park ranger there told us of one escape attempt by a prisoner on ice skates across Lake Superior. She said he turned back when he hit open water.

Noticed The camp for conscientious objectors was at Germfask. Was a CCC camp there too. Now its a private campground.
