keep us posted on how it works. Probably wont sift the sand very good, but mine doesnt either!

Used it last night. Lil heavy. Sifts sand ok as long as its real dry. Digs great. Handle is plenty strong to use some leverage.

That's a great scoop. Did you design it or were there plans for that one somewhere? The perfect angle

All plumbing parts besides handle that was a dock rope hook
The rest you can find in the hardware store plumbing isle. The main scoop with the angle is a 2" sweep into a 4" PVC double female connection. The rest is reducers and a cap. I just. Pieced it together and did some grinding and drilling

Nice idea I walked down the PVC aisle the other day and was thinking man I bet there is a way to make a scoop here!!

I recently made one similar to yours you can make 2 scoops for 15$
3 ft 4inch PVC section at Home Depot 4.95$
PVC 4inch drain cap 5$ each
Cut the PVC pipe in half and make a half slice in one side and glue the drain cap in the other.
Next cut a 3 ft to 4ft hockey stick or something similar drill out a top hole just big enough to insert the stick drill holes all over the pipe then insert the stick on an angle and put a stainless washer an screw into the stick pre drill the hole so it won't split.
took about 45 min total to make Works pretty good.

Not bad for $15, and 2 hours of work. Just getting into detecting and couldn't see spending
A lot on a scoop till I know I'll stick with it.

If the lip of your scoop is too thick, you can always grind off the outer part. I don't see any reason to keep it that thick.

Good thinking!
