Inspired by so many others on this site, I've been doing a little digging every day. It's paid off!
Two days in a row, my backyard digs have revealed bullets. Right before the sun went down I dug a .38 Special bullet. This is actually the second one I've found but the other one looks different that the one I found today.

Stamped on the bottom, P - P .38 SPL. There are also two rings around the casing made of hash marks. It weighs about 12 grams (185 grains), assuming my scale isn't way off. How old is this?

So here are my other two questions... the crusted white part.. is this still live?

Finding this bullet today makes me wonder if a piece I found yesterday, which most identified as a valve cap, could actually be a .38 wadcutter or maybe just a valve cap?
Just thought the find today might be related.
Cheers to all!
