Yesterday, my old detecting partner emailed to tell me about 4 buttons that I had found about 10 years ago. (He's retired and moved to Florida and had too much time on his hands). They looked like any other War of 1812 Navy buttons except for the back mark. These were made by a British button maker for the Continental Navy before the war of 1812 and during Washington's administration.
