The Yocum Land I looked on is privately owned.
Yeah I know. The Yocum land is also protected by the Rangers, and every agency affiliated with, and enforces the Antiquities Act, and also against people looking for Native American artifacts. My dad knew the author of the movie personally for many many years, who was also friends with the son, and father that found the Yocum silver die, and some Yocum dollars. I lived in those neck of the woods for years, and have seen many people who park across the road from the Yocum property where the signs are posted, and go out there to walk on the trails. They’re not supposed to technically be out there, but by law their definitely not allowed to have a detector or use their bare hands to remove anything from that ground. I’ve got buddies up in Pea Ridge who own land, and when I mean own land I mean it’s been in their family since the Civil War broke out, and because of the Antiquities Act, and the State law that passed to not remove any artifacts in certain areas that are part of “Cultural History” they’ll throw you in cuffs quicker than crap. I spoke to the guy myself who found them, my dad again like I said before was friends with Phillip Steele the man who interviewed the son, and father, the son being the one who had a premonition of there being something valuable nearby. I’m saying this to protect your butt, because I’ve known people to go out, and look for it. Times have changed, the days of going out on historic property once actually owned by people are few and far between. Most folks own their property, but don’t own this historical or cultural value of what’s on that land, and that’s why you have to ask the rangers. Because they do frequent that area, as well as other places in the vicinity. Plus the govt put up a hell of a fight with the father, and son who found those, and anyone with a Yocum dollar can be fined or jailed for owning counterfeit money, because the US govt still has a file open over the Yocum dollars, and look for people who post about them. If the old man was still alive, if Phillip was, and the dad was still alive they’d tell you the same thing. You’re better off deleting this post, because by law that’s like going out on a federally owned battlefield, and posting finds, and saying where you got them from, except the feds (US Mint, treasury dept, and Secret Service, and local rangers) don’t have a file of what artifacts are protected, and anytime that word comes up it throws up red flags. Trust me I worked 8 years in law enforcement, and have several good friends in the Game, and Fish, as well as Park Rangers, and family that is in law enforcement up there, and that’s not something you bring to town, and ask questions about. It’s more of a better keep your mouth shut, and don’t say a word about what you found.
