Any ideas what these are? Zebra looks like coal in the rough form I cut to see what it looked like and am very impressed.
I can’t identify, but very nice finds!

You could cut some interesting stones! You’re probably right on the epidote, what state have you found them?

Why do you think it's epidote? I've never seen epidote like that but there are a lot of rock forms and I haven't seen them all. It looks more like serpentine or olivine to me in it's rough form. What geologic setting is it found in?

Have you tested it for pleochroism and cleavage? Epidote is pretty easy to test.

Hilly,almost mountainous.central Newfoundland Canada lots of huge hills and some mountains,I found these on an abandoned railroad just sitting there, the entire track bed is full of the zebra type stuff miles of it you can not go 2 steps without finding a piece.
