Detector(s) used
Minelab Vanquish 340, Tesoro Silver uMax, Compadre, and BH Tracker IV.

Ex: White's Spectrum XLT, Tesoro Cutlass II Umax, and that circa late 70's red handled junk from RadioShack that started it.
nothing new I am sure.just took innards and controls of a tesoro silver umax and put
in a length of pvc pipe.followed proper pvc cementing procedures and epoxyed seams
for extra leak protection.end cap drilled hole for headphone/coil cable, wedged foam in hole to steady wire and epoxy(spot test wire epoxy reaction)then clear sillicone for some flex.
controls mounted on rounded plastic epoxyed in place, enough room for 9volt bat and added
snap cap, with a piece removable foam to steady bat against controls.control bat access
a cleanout end cap with teflon tape wrapped counterclockwise or opposite of how you screw on.mounted to pole with hose clamps and black tape.

no leaks been wading only.$30.00 radio shack phones,no sense getting w/p phones(the
money can be put towards a real underwater detector.found some clad and jewelry but
my homemade scoop was not succesful(need to get a rtg scoop ;) ).

Necessity is the mother of invention, good job!

Being from Connecticut I can appreciate a little "yankee ingenuity." Before you invest tons of money to see if water detecting is your cup of tea, a little modification to an existing detector will get your "feet wet" (pun intended). ;D
