Well... Add me to the list of members that can use their ATP in the saltwater. Seemed to work fine and stable. GB, back off 3-4 points, 7/8 sensitivity. Iron discim at 35. It was so quiet and stable I thought it wasn't working... Until it hit a bottle cap. I heard the lo hi lo... Dug it anyway to prove it was a cap.. Spent the rest of the time in the dry sand. Still too many bottle caps... Also... I had my Reilly BeachMaster scoop powder coated. That should keep the rust at bay for a while. Still no golden tent stakes!

Not gold, but did find seven inch copper tent stake, which should have good scrap value.
Most likely home made, before copper became that expensive.

If you want to see salt water hunting with the AT Pro, watch the latest videos by Pat " Metal Detecting Hawaii".

I see quite a few of the Garrett AT Pro machines at the beach, even sometimes in the wet sand. So they must work.

It's tuff on the powder coat.. Rinsing thoroughly after is a must.
I added a spray coat of marine protectant to mine

You got little bubbles huh?
Don't forget there is salt in the air at the beach...also..get plenty of fresh water inside the shaft when you rinse.

The powder coating is holding up well. The bottom brace has a worn spot from the sand and back brace from my foot. Other than that, only a few scratches. I know the Galvanizing will protect it, but it want it to last longer and look better than most after a few yearns the salt.

And yes... I rinse my gear off when I am down.

And this morning.... .69 cents in the dry... 2 bobby pins in the saltwater.

If it can find bobby pins, it can find anything.

I might recoat the working end in bed liner at the end of the season. The powder coat is doing pretty well after about 8 hours use.

Im using my AT pro in the salt right now because my CZ21 is in the hospital. I used it one whole summer before I got my CZ and made some nice gold and silver finds with it. The CZ is better and Ill go back to it as soon as it gets back but Im glad I have the AT for a backup.
