Before I start digging a hole in the ground, and then living in that trench, I'd first like to know if there's actually anything to dig for. Gotta find some provenance first, without it's just a bunch of endless rabbit holes.
At least, the holes are covered up...

Thomas J. Beale, the man who was "universally known"...and yet nobody can even find any provenance of his actual existence? How is this possible if he was universally known, even on a local scale? Sure, folks can speculate as to he was but if he was even anything close to what the author described then why no provenance yet? This type of thing, and more, is the real problem with the narration.

The other issue with the narration is that "There is provenance that many of the narration's details are not true as presented". And there's actually quite a bit of it.

It is the existence of this provenance that compels Beale hopefuls to continue to try to brush all of these negative and contrary facts under the rug, and yet they will always be there to haunt them in complete ruin of their wildest speculations and proposals.

Even when attempting to crack those alleged ciphers one needs some of provenance to start from, which here again, is completely void in all of these efforts.

Odd you would mention a book, got another offer to do that just the other day. But this subject isn't exactly a hot bed of interest and it probably wouldn't be worth the time and effort. Besides, there is no existing positive provenance to even write about.

That never stopped Innis and Ellis! :laughing7:
You could get some old butter paper, draw a map on it , smear it a bit, photograph it, and show it to some friends and get them to give a notarized statement about seeing the butter Beale maps, and there you have it, instant provenance.
PS- Make sure to "lose" that butter Beale map after the book is published. :icon_thumleft:

Do it for $1000,000 "Advance"; send title to LOC... write book LATER!
Hey, we could all contribute and attribute the book to an "unknown author".
I have this cousin who runs a print shop and is willing to print it for free for a piece of the action.

Ciphers with completely random numbers would be easy enough.....wait a minute, hasn't all this been done before? :laughing7:

So, why bother, eh...?

Exactly. :icon_thumleft: And when there's really nothing in existence to even establish the possibility that the tale is anything other then fiction, and with so much fact in existence to discredit the tale......rather a pointless venture "these days", to say the least.
