Metal Detecting
Hello all! I am new to this forum, and fairly new to metal detecting. I have a question for all. It is my understanding that sometimes people would keep their money of treasures buried in jars before banks. My friend lives on a property where the original house is the cellar level. He has agreed to let me break the floor in looking for old "treasure" if I think there might be something there. Today I took my metal detector and there are a few spots going off, but I dont really want to bust all of the floor up. In one picture you can see where I took up a piece of the old wood floor that wasnt covered. Underneath I got super excited when I found an old jar lid. Sadly, I didnt find a jar with it. I was wondering if anyone on here might have any idea as to what the sweet spot might be? One odd thing is there is one spot where my detector indicates something about 6 or 7 inches under the floor. Also, I'm pretty sure all of the attached room is "newer" construction so I didnt do any detecting over there to avoid pipes and such. Take a look at the pics and tell me what you think? Could there be something hidden under the floor? Or is it wishful thinking?

I noticed this was your very first post Papasquirrel - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Looks like some of the floor is concrete. Most people wouldn't pour concrete over their stash..but some one coming late might do it not thinking about treasure. Be sure to check the posts and walls all kinds of treasure have been found n similar-sometimes they cut a plug to fit the hollowed out post to put things in. Check the floor beams the same way. The bricks make a perfect place if they are not solidly mortared....you might have someone with a black light go over it to see if there is a difference in the mortar around some of the brick....and the floor.
