All over the south there are mass graves and burials of Confederate soldiers. The North was able to retrieve their dead but most times in the south the towns or farmers ended up burying the dead sometimes weeks later. I have seen single markers that say 20 Confederate unknown buried in a single grave the mound of dirt still humped up and not settled.
It is good with technology we are finding these graves and giving these men and re burying them with the respect they deserve.

That is an amazing story. There is a small CW cemetery near where I work with a historical maker talking about skirmish that happened here. There are mostly rocks for headstones with no markings of who is buried there. Very sad for the families of these men.

yeah you'd be surprised around here in Dumfries the bodies they just covered up with tar on I-95. God bless them and to edit no wonder theres always so much traffic. I'd **** it up too!
