I agree it is nice to see silver inch up! As for the health care initiative - he better get something done, I for one am tired off taking up the *** from these insurance companies. Talk about rationing and getting screwed over by insurance company actuaries. Who do you think is deciding what medicine you can get and what services you get. It isn't your doctor. Don't let anyone fool you who is in charge. The profit margin they are pulling is ridiculous. And the money they spend on all these ads to pressure doctors to prescribe these so called needed medication...who pays for those. Yup you and me. I have to cover five employees right now and am paying over 50% on benefits. Guess what takes the most...yup, and oh yea, they just raised their rates 20% for January 1st. Lets all go have a teabagging dance and cloud the real issue. Might as well holler out here comes the commie and look out for the bogie man! Sorry but I get a little sick of all the phony rhetoric getting spewed lately while this country just slides down the drain...

Yes nothing is aright but if you think making the Gooberment the final arbiter of all things will be better than even what we have now you is foolin self. socialism is a death sentence for a nations elderly & chronically ill.
I know a man from Canada his wife diagnosed with cancer they told her the budget for 1/4 was spent for type surgery she needed, said it would be 3 or 4 months- even the questionable appeal would take months- they packed up went to Denver Colorado & 5 days later she had surgery and is alive now 3 years later cancer free; of course they had to sell house in Canada to pay what is to date just over 200K in bills. They now live- own (buying) house in US, in Canada she'd likely be dead now.

Maine Jim, I understand your stance and I would be angry at current prices for sure. That is the next battle we need to fight. The answer is not having government control and dictate who gets what care. That would lead to a stew of mess. If you don't think the doctors that went to school for 15 yrs and have to pay their debt off who not pack their bags and go elsewhere think again. Once the government realizes that most tax paying americans dont want this plan then maybe we can go after insurance companies and bring down costs. Oh and maybe that illegal immigrant issue we have to would be a good one to focus on. Maine jim you are paying for them too and you would still be under obama care. Something to think about. What you pay to your employees now for healthcare will be made up for in higher taxes and mediocer care if this goes through.

I pay for my own insurance now and like the way things are.
i don't know where your from or how much money you have but for if it weren't for my job i would be paying $1200 a month just for my wife and i. my mortgage isn't even that high.
You and I do not pay for healthcare now if somebody goes to the ER without health insurance. That patient will get sued if they do not pay their bill, and if they declare bankruptcy the hospital/doctors do not get paid. Otherwise, the collection agencies chase the debtor around until it gets paid or they give up on it.
i beg to differ here. we do pay for all those visits. how can you sue someone who uses an alias. how can you sue someone who has nothing. and how can you even find them since most are constantly moving from one rental to another. tthese people are pros at getting something for nothing.they will go to an emergency room for a cold or stomach ache rather than go to a regular doctor because they don't have to wait and can't be turned down. and they know this. we just had a major hospital in Roxborough, Pa. that was forced to close. it was right next door to a major housing developement. why was it closed you ask? because 48% of all emergency room visits and stays were from people who couldn't pay.

there are 2 main reasons for the rise in healthcare. first off is the drug companies. they say its the cost of research in producing the medicine. i'm sure if it was a good drug that is commonly used then it shouldn't take them too long to recoup those costs. so why don't the prices go down after the initial overhead is payed for?. why? because were still paying for all the advertising on major networks and all the high paid reps who go doctor to doctor pushing thier product. the other reason is as stated above. too many people taking advantage of the system. here in Philly most of the upper class has left for greener pastures. without thier tax base all the burden is put on the average working class joes like you and me. we are paying for welfare, public school, and all special programs designed for those "unfortunates"
don't know if you ever saw a food line. they set up outside a church or abandoned building and give out cheese, food, food stamps, etc. i have seen these lines all too often. most everyone there is young and look like there's nothing wrong with them. why aren't they out working? i have also seen Caddies and BMWs sitting at the curb. how can they afford that but be in line for assistance.? i also saw people who just got food stamps then go around the corner and sell them at a fraction of the cost to another guy who will sell them for profit.
i used to own a " section 8" home in a very poor area. the value of the home dropped 54% in the first six months. section 8 was designed to help poor people find a decent home to live in. the state paid the rent. and they paid on time too. it was great until i realized what was going on. i found out that not only was the state responsible to pay the rent but the tenents only had to pay 17% of all thier utility bills. i found this out when i went to the house to make repairs and the woman had the heat on 88 degrees and it was mid June. all the while the window A.C. unit in the upstairs bedroom was running full tilt. shortly after i had my partner buy me out. i wanted no part in enabling these people to take advantage of the system.
i moved out of the city just to get away from all the freeloaders. i had 2 children in Catholic school i was paying for and i had to pay a school tax for someone else's kid to go to public school. which noone with a job wanted to send thier kids to because it is too dangerous and no one learns anything there.
out where i am now i'm still paying a school tax but the schools are "blue Ribbon" and are considered the best around. i also pay about half for my insurance, my bills are way lower, my neighborhood is 100 times safer and my home is about 1/3 larger than my previous one. why is everything so much cheaper and safer out here? because everyone has a job and pays thier bills. there are very few people who need assistance and those that are using it most likely really need it.
sorry for the rant but i have watched the decline of this city and its all because of the government giving away the store.
my ancestors came here with nothing and worked for what they got or they would have starved. there were no freebies then and they never would have accepted something for free because they were too proud. its a shame what the world has become.

MR G,

I don't have a job, I work for myself and pay for my own insurance (premiums are tax deductible-partially at least). It is great when a person's job pays for insurance, but that should be something negotiated between the employer and employee, and should not be REQUIRED by the gov.

Further, when someone goes to an ER without insurance, we (as taxpayers) do not pay for that. It is between the patient and hospital. If they cannot collect, they eat it. Just like if somebody buys something in a store on credit and defaults. When a doctor or hospital sues a patient, they must follow the law just like any other private entity. The hospital cannot go to uncle sam and say, give me this money if the hospital is a private corporation. If you have special knowledge of the legal system with repsect to collections in this regard, I would like to hear how that works. If the culprit patients are doing it knowing they are gonna be on the run, then any gov health plan is not gonna help in this regard anyway.

Neither is the problem actually the insurance companies, if you carfully follow back to the source of the problems we face today, not only in Health care but everywhere in our society ar large you will find understand the significant role government regulatory bureaucracy is playing in the crumbling- corruption of our society; I assure you you'd be shocked at how endemic & perverse gov is on free market operation of economies.

And most people do NOT realize this but a Corporation is a creation of the State itself and is entirely subject tot he will of its creator the Gov, (this includes 501C3 inCorporated "Churchs") have you ever wonder or noticed it makes no difference which Party is in power the new Presidents appointements come from the corporate boardrooms- duh-duh, we are being taken to the cleaners, primarily cause we are ignorant of what they are doing to US; and a genuine honest man like Ron Paul who is a true Statesman- NOT a politician, the average citizen simply can NOT understand even his words in truth. I'm so flustrated at the willful ignorance of most of US citizens who are full of trivial matters but know literally nothing of their own their own nations Constitution that was designed to protect them from political tyranny. we are less than pawns today for most part as citizens- literally no more than like grain to be harvested or plowed under as it will be by the very tyrants we have elected.

Most will pay you as little as they can get you to accept, have seen some local dealers who pay $1.10 each for %40'ers when silver was from 12 to 16 $'s they did not move their buy price. Ebay has done well for me- have 14 rolls of %40's for sale this weekend so will learn how well; last time sold 1 Roll for 42.49 and netted 34.87 .

wouldn't you call losing a good hospital in your neighborhood "paying a price" just because 48% won't (or can't) pay thier bill.
BTW ..i wasn't trying to put anyone down because they don't have health insurance, i'm talkin about the ones who have assistance but refuse to go to the clinic and wait for hours, and instead run to the emergency room, where they are waited on right away and they don't have to pay.

i also read somewhere that obama was asked if he would use his own plan or the one he has planned for us. he never answered the question. i also believe that this question was asked of many of the supporters of this new healthcare system and not one person would trade thier existing plan for the one they want us to use. wonder why?
