Todays story of..."why you should never burn bridges."

I know ive mentioned it enough times over the last few months that a few of you may have noticed that I prefer to never burn bridges. I dont get mad when things dont go my way. I choose to smile and say thanks even when a teller with an 8lb corncob is up her rear and is blaming it on me. I even choose to give gifts when im being given the boot. Now before today it has netted me only several good conversations and a few silver coins I wouldnt have otherwise gotten and a much lower blood pressure which as we all get older becomes more important with each passing day. Well today I was reminded why i chose the path ive taken with this hobby (and life for that matter) which is to be nice.

A few of you may remember a month or 2 ago i complained that my bank of 20+ years told me no more ordering coin even if i payed any fee involved. It was painful to hear and to lose my best producer of boxes and bags (0 skunks) , well, sucked to say the least. I bit my tongue, smiled and said thank you for all you have done and I went on my merry way. Today i received a call from my old teller who mentioned she hasnt seen me in quite some time. I said ive had no reason to be up her way but it was nice to hear from her and i appreciate the call. After some catching up on families and such she said the magic words so few of us hear " the reason i called is i got quite a few rolls of halves in today." "I know we had to stop ordering them but i thought of you when we got these. Now the wrappers are really old looking, and the coins sound kinda funny but ill hold them if you want them."

Now at this point, after hearing her say old wrappers and they sound funny, not only did my heart pound but i thought for sure i had discovered something superior to viagra. You see there is no pill needed nor do you turn blue but the effect is still the same (this is for comic effect here ladys and gents dont go trying this at home then blaming me if it dont work). So cleary i said hold the coins im on the way. When i arrived i was almost to excited to act gentlemenly. I was ready to tear into those wrappers like a heavy set deputy holding a lingerie wrapped box of krispy kremes. I bought 10 rolls which had wrappers i havent seen since the 80s. I should have taken pictures or saved them but i damn near chewed through them on the way to the car. So to bring this needlessly long post to a less than dramatic end here is the totals. 10 rolls, 100 x 40%, 81 X 1964 kens, 14x bennys. Out of 200 coins 195 of them were silver, the other 5 coins were simply not there. Not a single clad. Again i would have gone into the bank to bitch them out about short changing me 2.50 in halves but its just not in my demeaner to do so, especially on this day for some reason <wink>. Anyway the moral to this story is to say when you burn bridges you not only end up with a wet hiney, but you may also end up missing out on a good friend who you have left a lasting impression on.

Here is the pics of the 90%s. I got to lazy to lay them all out but you get the point. This was twice the 90%s Ive found all year.

My best single day total by 76 keepers. And best 90% day total by 74. Good hunting folks!

I took my dump bank a couple dozen steamed blue crabs the other day.

Then today I took a walker to a teller who said she had always wanted one.

Just keeping the people happy

Great story with awsome results. Stay on the path your on. This bank / teller made it much easier than searching all those boxes. You are very fortunate.

This is awesome and exactly what I always say "you never know"

I love it when tellers think of us.

The cake is a nice idea but also maybe a gift card from walmart.

I know this works great too.

Easy now, too big a gift and maybe a flag will be raised by another teller who may decide that a profit like that will look better in her bank account.
