I was thinking about this today. What do you consider a monster box or a dream box?

My best box so far had 17 keepers. 13 were 90%ers 4 were 40%ers.

Not by any means a dream box, but I was extremely happy. It got me thinking about what would I consider a dream box.

I think that anything over 10 keepers is a great box. Over 30 to me would be a monster. 50+ keepers would be an absolute dream.

I can't even think about you guys that find 70+ keepers in a single box. That to me would be a dream come true.

depends on what the box is, for me a box of dimes with even 8 keepers would be borderline dream ;D dimes have been so rough for me..

not to toot my own horn, as I made a post about this already.

and hit the big hit the big time on my first ever roll hunt in CRW that had probably been there forever 4 of em' marked "1964"
and one of those even went on to say 1964silver. total take was 82-90% and 64-40%
so, ^ that was a dream for me..

I always assumed that a monster box was bigger than a dream box. I have seen others post that 100+ keepers was considered a dream box, but IMO I think if you are on a 50 skunk streak and average .1 keepers per box, I would consider 20-30+ in 1 box to be pretty dreamy.

I'd consider a dream box anything over 100 keepers. Only got that once. I've only seen one monster box in the 3 years I've been here and that was Mountain Mans score. I think it was over 900 keepers mostly 90%.

That box was from about a year and a half ago. It was 600 silvers, mostly 90%ers and was probably someone's collection turned in. I think someone figured it out to be about 216 ounces of silver. Someone on this forum had a couple of mega boxes that had nearly 900 silver coins in it, i can't remember who.

My best box (I've done less than 20 boxes, I think) had 17 keepers, 3 of which were 90%ers (2 64's and a 42 Walker). I'd take that everytime. ;D

Best box for me was 127. There were 112 90% and 15 40%. I had a couple others that were close but none had so many 90%. That box was a couple years back. Best one last year had about 80. I'm thinking that it would take a 200+ box to qualify as a "monster" box. The way silver is climbing it may be pretty tough to get one as the word spreads about the value of silver.

I'll certify them.
Some exceptions might = 10 barbers or other rare keepers.
Proofs are not considered keepers unless they are silver.

i would say 100+ is a dream box, 200+ is a monster box, and 900+ is a :o holy____!!!!!!!!!! box...thats my opinion tho...keep it up and hh!

That definition is whatever you think it is. Some say 100+ and I laugh at that. A box like that would most likely send me in to shock and I would wake up several hours later wondering what happened. I stopped halves a 2 weeks ago after getting 50+ skunks in a row and moved to dimes. That said, a dream box of halves for me at this point would be 1.

As far as dimes - My average is about 1 - 1.5 per box and the most I have ever found in 1 box was 5. I would say any 10+ would be a dream box for me. Again, it is all up to the individual to decide what the consider a dream/monster box.

It's all fun though :icon_thumleft:

I don't remember what the "per box" totals were but out of four boxes I pulled:

8 Walkers
46 Franklins
78 '64 Kennedys
96 '65-70 Kennedys

All in all a good day. 61.94 oz. of bling. 5.16 Troy lbs. Averages out to 1.29 lbs per box as each box was pretty much loaded. I'd hit a streak where I was getting great boxes...then it tapered off but for a while they were all dream boxes. *sigh*

A few months ago I was running late and asked my son to grab 2 boxes at bank. When he came home I thanked him and took my time with opening the boxes as it had now become a chore because I had been skunked the whole 2 weeks before. Well... I was finding rolls with 9 silvers. I ended up with almost 13 rolls of 40% =260 and 3 90%. I have never had such a great experience coin rolling in the 4 years ive been doing this.
