Basically for the below:

Pennies - keep all wheats (1958 and before) and a lot of people, me included, are keeping anything 1959 - 1981 as these are 95% copper, and each of these pennies has over 2 cents worth of copper in them.

Nickels - Most people keep anything 1958 and prior, I keep 1955 and prior. 1942 - 1945 are war nickels and are part silver. They can be identified by a large mint mark above the dome of the monticello on the reverse. Some 1942 are not silver, and they do not have the large mint mark above the dome. Something else to watch out for is the speared bison nickel. On the new buffalo nickel there is a die crack on the reverse that runs thru the buffalo, hence the name "speared".

Dimes - Anything 1964 and before, these are 90% silver

Quarters - Same as the dimes. Also look out for the Wisconsin state quarter. There are some with an extra leaf on the cornstalk on the reverse, and are worth some good bucks.

Halves - Anything 1970 and before. 1964 and before are 90% silver, 1965 - 1970 are 40% silver. Some others to watch out for is a 1974D double die. The RUS in TRUST on the obverse is doubled and can be seen with a magnifying glass. Also a lot of people keep circulated proofs. These are the S mintmark from 1968 to present and can be identified easily by the mirror finish on the coin.
