I think this post would get more replies in the regular section, not the log section.

I say grade it - it's a rare coin & anyone paying big bucks for it will pay more if its in a holder. Very cool find btw !!!

Grade it, just for protection honestly. It is over a $2,000 coin, and you do NOT want PVC getting to it and ruining it. If you are going to keep it your whole life it isn't really a big deal if you grade it in my opinion.

Certainly there must be a major coin show in your area? The TPGs will have representatives there and also offer show discounts.

Yep!

MNS 53RD ANNUAL COIN SHOW

THURSDAY JULY 25th Noon - 7pm
FRIDAY JULY 26th 10am - 6pm
SATURDAY JULY 27th 10am - 5pm
CONVENTION CENTER

1 Convention Center Plaza
St. Charles, Missouri

Probably would not be best to show up on Thursday as the first day of most Coin Shows is set aside for the Coin Dealer to Coin Dealer transactions (i.e. trading and selling). Good luck!

Even though it is 3.5 hrs and 220 mi away, I would still feel more comfortable and paying the ~$50 in gas to go there and back.

There is one in Leavenworth, KS this fall, but it seems smaller than the St. Charles one.
